One Prayer Churches Video

This past weekend at all of our worship experiences, we showed a video that scrolled through the names of each one of the churches that are participating in One Prayer. It was really powerful to have everyone attending visualize what 1200+ churches actually looks like when they are listed out, one by one.

The full resolution version will be available later today on the Resource Page of OnePrayer.com!

One Prayer: Big Announcement!

We’ve felt that One Prayer is a unique opportunity for The Church to make a lasting impact on the world. Craig announced we would be receiving a special offering for a missions initiative when he casted the vision for One Prayer. Our team began to explore, discuss and pray about what causes/organizations we could collectively support with this offering.

The effort became even more challenging as the size and scale of One Prayer quickly exceeded our expectations and imaginations. Shortly after announcing the offering, we were approached by our good friends from Granger Community Church, who asked if they could help us explore those opportunities. They selflessly invested themselves and a very ambitious vision emerged that we quickly became VERY excited about.

The One Prayer missions offering will go to support planting 500 new churches in Cambodia, India, Sudan, and China! The local church is the hope of the world, and these churches will be able to make a sustainable, lasting and eternal impact on these four strategic regions. We explored many great causes and organizations that we could collectively support, but the vision of local churches from around the world uniting to invest in planting churches was the most synergistic with the vision of One Prayer.

We hope that you will prayerfully consider participating in the One Prayer offering to plant churches and spread the gospel of Christ throughout the world. If you are unable or do not choose to participate in the One Prayer offering, we strongly encourage you take this opportunity to contribute to an international missions effort of your choice. We can have far greater impact united than we can apart, and we are excited to see what God will do!

There is a lot more detail about the opportunity, the process, and the organizations involved on OnePrayer.com. Please be sure to check it out and also let us know if you have questions.

One Prayer Pastors: Dino Rizzo

To close out the week, we have Dino Rizzo from Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

dino.jpgWhat are some of the great things God is doing in your church?
We are experiencing the joy of launching two new campuses in two months – one is in Swaziland, Africa (our second campus in Africa), and the other is here in Baton Rouge. A seventy-year-old Baptist church has graciously given us a 100,000 square-foot facility including a great auditorium and a huge dormitory/outreach facility that is located in the middle of Baton Rouge’s inner city. We’ve been serving and reaching out to this part of our city for a long time, but now we have a phenomenal place to work out of right there in the community.

I believe that what we are experiencing is what Proverbs 11:24 says: “The world of the generous gets larger and larger.” The people of Healing Place Church have been so extremely generous, caring and loving and serving people in so many ways. And I believe that when people live in the principle that we are blessed to be a blessing, God will entrust more into their stewardship. He’ll keep giving to people He can trust to give it away.

That’s what we’re experiencing right now. And I assure you, it is all by His grace, because we simply don’t have the ability on our own to do what He’s doing though Healing Place Church. And this way, He gets all the glory and that’s how it oughtta be.

Why are you excited about participating in One Prayer?
One thing we’re really excited about is the way One Prayer is using technology that is available today – redeeming it for the use of the Kingdom.

But the real exciting thing about One Prayer is that we believe in the power of unified passion. Jesus taught that when we come together, there is multiplied strength. We have always believed that we can get a lot more done for the Kingdom through the power of partnering together with others - like a LifeChurch.tv and the hundreds of other churches joining in One Prayer.

This is such a God-idea – to make us what He intended us to be – creative, passionate, dangerous, and extremely generous. It has His mark all over it because He loves it when we are one.

What is your one prayer for the Church that you will be teaching on?
“God, make us extremely generous.”

God is the model of extreme generosity, and it is manifest in Jesus. And now it is our turn to take our place as followers of Christ to be extremely generous by giving. When the church is generous, it is alive. So our prayer is that God would help us to be extremely generous, so we can be extremely alive.

Make Every Effort

Ephesians 4:3-6 says, Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

Paul implies that unity won’t just happen. He instructs us to “make every effort.”

You can make some efforts by:

  • Sharing your resources with other ministries. (This could include your building, portable sound system, van, curriculum, or youth pastor.)
  • Deciding to only speak well of others.
  • Attending your local ministers’ meeting and making friends.
  • Calling another local pastor and asking him if you can worship at his church on your next weekend off. Write a letter afterwards to express how his church blessed you.
  • Pray for other ministries.
  • Avoid ministry gossip, and tell others you will not listen to it when they start.

What are some efforts someone has made toward you? What are you doing for others?

One Prayer Pastors: Steven Furtick

Today, we invited Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church in Indian Trail, NC to talk about One Prayer.

Don’t forget, the deadline to submit messages is this Monday, May 12. We have added some additional video resources (roll-in, etc.) to help you in your production.

furtick1.jpgWhat are some of the great things God is doing in your church?
The most exciting thing God has done at Elevation Church in recent days was on Easter Sunday. We saw over 500 people accept Jesus Christ in our worship experiences. Along with that, He is providing some pretty exciting opportunities for campus expansion in the fall. But that’s top secret. If I told you, I’d have to kill you.

Why are you excited about participating in One Prayer?
First of all, I believe Pastor Craig is a visionary for this generation of church leaders. I’m behind him in everything God puts in his heart to do. But secondly, I think the idea is just brilliant. We are alive at the most exciting time in human history to advance the gospel. With all the technology at our disposal, it would be an unpardonable sin to fail to leverage that in our generation for the unity of the body of Christ. Not only will Elevation be exposed to world class teachers and preachers, but we’ll be a part of a historic opportunity to stand in unity for Jesus. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

What is your one prayer for the church?
I’ll be teaching “Make Us Audacious.” I’m really going to encourage churches to grab hold of the vision that God has given the leadership of the church and to stand behind it with boldness and tenacity. I hope that the message
will encourage church leaders to pray big prayers and take big risks and to stretch their faith for the glory of God.
