Tackle Porn Addiction on Super Bowl Sunday

National Porn Sunday takes place next year on February 6, 2011, the same day as Super Bowl Sunday here in the U.S. This is a great opportunity to bring pornography addiction out in the open and reach people in your church with hope for healing. The event is free and offers a 30-minute message featuring Craig Gross along with several other professional football players speaking about the issue of pornography. When you register, you’ll receive a Porn Sunday Manual that will help your church prepare.

Craig Gross and the team at XXXchurch are great friends and are doing a fantastic job at equipping the Church to offer real help for people who are struggling with pornography. They partnered with us to host The Porn Event at Church Online earlier this year.

Now is a good time to start planning for National Porn Sunday, so check out the video below and then sign up for free.

The Porn Event Begins

thepornevent.comYesterday we kicked off ThePornEvent.com, a 25-minute interactive experience designed to help people who are struggling with pornography. It features open discussions with people who’ve dealt with pornography addiction, as well as community chat, one-on-one prayer, and an invitation to accept Christ.

We’re really excited about the potential for an event like this to reach people who are looking for fulfillment all over the Internet. We’ve launched a global Google adwords campaign specifically targeted to people searching for pornography online. We’re offering the event throughout the week at multiple times to connect with people in different time zones.

It’s been great to see the response during the first day and a half. So far nearly 2,000 people have attended the event and nearly 100 of them have accepted Christ. People who’ve experienced the effects of pornography addiction are also showing up to offer support in the chat, like this woman from South Africa:

My husband was addicted to this and it nearly broke my marriage - we have been through hell and back. But, glory to God, He has become the number one in our lives, and no one can overcome this problem without Him.

We’re looking forward to what happens during the many experiences scheduled to take place during the week.

The Almost Ready Event

When launching a new anything, most people want it to be perfect. Opening before it is perfect is often better than waiting for perfection.

One of my friends opened a yogurt store before he had signs, pictures, or decorations. Instead of a cool clock on the wall, he put up a piece of paper with “clock” written on it.

My friend greeted everyone that came in and explained how they were his special guests. The store has taken off—and they still don’t have the clock up.

In church, people love to be in on the ground floor. The sound system doesn’t have to be perfect. All of the walls don’t have to be painted. The carpet might not even be laid.

When launching a new program, it might not need a logo, a room, or an agenda. Sometimes a vision an the right leader may be all you need to start.

If everything is done, people don’t get to contribute to or enjoy the process.

Even if everything is not perfect, God can still work through a mess.
