Here is ONE thing I know…That regardless of ANYTHING that I do…I KNOW nothing. I only know that God is God. I am not God. God is in control. Man is man and will always be man. God is no respecter of persons…ALL are equal…And we need to trust Him more with His Church! I am choosing and learning to cast MY care every day and let Him work through the details. The more I try to HAVE control the less faith I am living! God wants to build us up and sometimes people ONLY learn by taking “the FIELD TRIP” they need to be given the opportunity to grow…This post is great! I am so glad God did not say “oops”…when it came to making me. I am blessed that I was not created to KNOW Everything! That would be exhausting!

As one of the leaders that serves with Craig, there is another benefit of his empowerment of us…objectivity. Because he isn’t personally involved with every decision at lifechurch and isn’t deep in the weeds of the details, his objectivity becomes invaluable. I can go to Craig with a challenge or problem i am facing and he provides insight and options that i am usually to close to the circumstance to see myself.

Craig, I have met you and spoke briefly with you at the door on Monday. I am back in Czech, but these three days with your staff and seeing your church from the inside out were some of the most inspiring and encouraging days I have ever had. Thank you again for what you do and who you are. And your blog is right. The capacity and in the same humility and learning appetite of your staff makes it a lot easier to lead and is the foundation of why is LifeChurch such a great organization (and this is again a great inspiration for me as I am in the culture of either do-it-alone pastors or dont-take-responsibility pastors).

There is so much we just don’t need to know…and I mean come on, our brains can only take so much info!

Brandon, If you put the write people in place, you probably won’t need to know the details of what happens in kids’ or student ministry. Your church might send a group out on Saturday to serve people in the inner city. You may “want” to be there, but you shouldn’t “have” to be there. Someone else can cover all the details. You may have a volunteer plan a baptism event. With the right person leading, you could just show up ready to baptize.

This was something when I came to my new church that I wanted to do - not know everything and not do everything. It is a church over just over a hundred in normal Sunday attendance and in the past the Pastor did everything. Something happened when they went a brief period without a pastor - people had to do the various things the pastor did. They tried to give all that stuff back but I have not let and now they are thanking me and telling me that they really feel connected to the church. I go the point of not know the offering and I have let those who do the finances know that when they see an issue in giving I want to know right away - other than that I do not want to know.

Thanks for the encouragement in this today.
