The Final 10%

When it comes to giving, I enjoy honoring God with the first 10% (and more) of what he entrusts to my care.

But when it comes to living, I’ve noticed that God seems to bless the final 10% more than the first 90%.

I’ll explain.

In so many areas of life, I tend to give 90% of my best. Once I’ve given that much, I often rationalize that I’ve done a pretty good job. I’ve given a good solid effort. That should be good enough, right?

But giving 90% of my best isn’t “doing everything as unto the Lord.” This week I’ll write about how I’m trying to honor God with my final 10%.

Looking forward to hearing more Craig. I find that after giving the 90% I am so tired that I barely have the 10% to give. Am I alone?

Ooh…very cool wake up call. Man, I only had one sip of coffee, went to Swerve and BAM…in yo’ face great information. Great for a rainy Monday. I totally agree! The truth is we ALL are going to invest somewhere (we all have the same 24 hours in one day)…why wouldn’t we WANT to say and act on… “I’m ALL in!!!??” 100% for God. Looking forward to more.

This is soooo good. I find that when I’m not functioning in my top 5% (the top 5% of things in our lives that matter most to us as explained by Wayne Cordeiro in “Leading On Empty”), I tend to not give my best final 10 percent of the things that really matter.

I’m with you Pastor Craig, we need to be giving God everything we have, and trust that what we do give him He will multiple, and use in a great way for His glory. Thank you for all you have given in service to God, you are a huge blessing, one that God uses in phenomenal ways.

From someone who is on your team, I notice that in this season you are giving everything to God and to lead us. Be encouraged, the NW campus was really moved by your leadership and sensitivity to the Spirit in the close of your message. The NW team is buzzing in conversations at how much they appreciate you and what this meant to our staff. My feedback to this post, is you have created a culture here that makes me want to give a strong final 10%. Thanks Craig!

i really like this but agree with the bills. in our lives, the last 10% is the hardest 10% to give.

but just like a sprinter that leans to reach the finish line first, we have to finish strong.

    Ooooooh! I’m excited!

I would also say, for me, that the final 10% is composed of very small things technically, but hard things mentally. But maybe that’s because I’m still coming out of my old self - the Master Procrastinator.

Lol one day I saw a tshirt that said, “Procrastinators - leaders of tomorrow!”
    :)

i’m interested to hear how one knows when they’ve given any percent; what does 90, 100, 50% look like?
