Thankfully, Charley added his comments. Nobody else used scripture, only fallible feelings and opinions. Thanks, Charley.

"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God." Eph 5:1-5 ESV

will armstrong,

My confidence that "God is that BIG" is precisely why I lean toward my "call" out of darkness unto light & holiness & "avoiding all appearances of evil". I don't find God is so small that Christian's must use a 7 or even a 15 foot inflatable penis as a gossip tract. It appears you disagree.

As Paul wrote, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”

God called me out of darkness into light by bringing Himself to my attention while I was standing in my own bedroom while I was contemplating His thwarting my best efforts to engage in heinous sin. He used my Dad as the feet that brought me His Word John 10. At no time did God send someone into my mistress's bedroom w/ rude material. God Himself, used my conscience against me.

The apostle Paul became apostle by Jesus' initiative and calling and without the use of inflatable sex toys. “Testing everything; holding fast what is good, and abstaining from every form of evil” is the spirit, not legalism, behind my comments. But again, it appears you disagree with Paul as well.

Wow! When did this blog attract so many legalists? I am all for caution as we go forth in outreach, but the lost will NOT be won in the comfort of our suburban palaces, but in the gutters on the side of the street. People are desperate, now more than ever, and they need someone to go to them and deliver the message of hope and healing that comes in the sacrifice of Jesus.

Where we as the Church need to be investing our efforts is in prayer for protection for our brothers and sisters on the front lines, for wisdom and purity for ourselves as we go into these places of sin, and that the Spirit of God would move supernaturally to deliver the captives and set them free. We have no time for criticism and judgment and from what I know of Craig and lifechurch, this is not the place to bring those sentiments.

Mike and Charley, I htink you may need to check your own hearts and identify your personal struggles as such, not projecting them upon those who have been called to go to the hurting and downtrodden. I hope you recieve this as a brotherly rebuke and invest your efforts in building up the Church not tearing it down with dissension and arguments.

StripChurch and xxchurch, may the Spirit of the Lord continue to be upon you all, for protection, for compassion, for impact and for anointing. Even as you pass by those devastated and bankrupt by the adult entertainment industry, may they be healed and delivered in the passing of your shadows! God is that BIG and He is going to work through you all!

Ryan,

you wrote, "hopefully we can cheer each other on instead of wasting time with criticism"

1. I quoted scripture. Are you familiar with "Sola scriptura"?

2. If you heard God's voice direct you to this endevour then you, like Jonah, would be in gross disobedience if you failed to go.

I know there is a fine line between loving sinners & enemies and being separated unto holiness. Paul ended 1 Cor 5 with "Purge the evil person from among you." He was no doubt speaking of believers. Obviously, Paul reinforced the call purity.

I'm not opposed to evangelising the lost. I just wonder about the wisdom of entering to their dens.

Ryan,

I'm all for reaching the lost. God bless you and your friends for that desire.

However, I do wonder how often we as evangelists end up causing unnecessary offense, whether it be by our tone of voice, body language, manner of dress, etc. Such things call for a period of sober self-examination before engaging in spiritual enterprise.

My question is simply one of when our methods compromise the message. Do you believe there is such a point? If so, when do you think it is?

Thanks in advance.

When Jesus sat and eat with tax collectors, I'm not aware that walking with them would be sinful or eating dinner at the local diner or even sitting in their offices while they divide up their share. Walking with harlot or eating with harlots also seems okay. But would Jesus gone into the brothel where they did thier deeds? I am unsure of this.

I am all too aware of people rationalizing in the name of "Jesus did this or that" when in reality, the scriptures are dead silent.

Paul writes:

"Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. " 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 NIV

Did Paul also intend to convey, "To the prostitute I become a prostitute, to striper I also become a striper, to the porn king I also educated myself & exposed my to porn?"

In all the above, I believe both intended to keep themselves holy, clean, & without sin.

Tell me where I'm wrong?

I have mixed thoughts about xxxchurch.

I admire these guys' desire to reach the desperately lost and the web accountability resources they provide.

However, do the ends [reaching the lost and bringing them the message of salvation in Christ] always justify the means [unconventional, and sometimes offensive, low-brow tactics]?

This is awesome. I love that God puts it in peoples heart to reach everyone, not just everyone living in suburbia. Church is about everyone needing Jesus, not just "normal" people.
