The North East (PA) School District showed this to the Clergy Council last year during one of our annual coordinating meetings. It was impactful then and even more so after seeing it the second time. It just makes you wonder when ‘enough will be enough’ and we’ll have a sense of ‘constant’ again. It’s no wonder our children are turning back to the liturgy of the church, everything else is moving too fast even for them!

Great presentation, which reinforces what I saw at a “Youth and media culture” presentation a little while ago.

This information is great, but are we creating minds and education with too narrow of a focus?

Ken Robinson presented a talk which opened my eyes as to how this is messing up the next generation, through things like educational inflation.

Kirk, thanks for the reminder. I Hold these tensions too. I have been asking for input from my friends on my blog. Understanding the medium of the message is important. However, the message and the mission of the message must never be lost in the medium. There is great debate on the issue. (Marva Dawn-Reaching Out without Dumbing Down, Selling Out the Gospel–forgive, I can’t recall the author’s name.) Every attempt to reach people groups must be bathed in prayer. Utilizing internet for the Gospel without intense prayer is as foolish as standing to preach without deep study and intimate prayer.

That’s why I have always thought that Jesus is Revolutionary…and “cultural relevant” is not even relevant…Jesus is the Culture by definition alone, not trends…He has always been constantly “avant-garde”.

I am not at all opposed to technology….but what really stirred my heart as I watched this was the verse from 2Timothy. We have a people that are always seeking and increasing in knowledge, but not acknowledging the truth. Visions of the tower of Babel come to mind! We, the believers must use all of this for the Kingdom, and we must pray for those that seek all of this in vain.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 (New International Version)

Godlessness in the Last Days
1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
