A Glimpse of the Future
This video does a great job of illustrating why “global” and “mobile” are two words that deserve our focus. It’s well worth your time to watch it!

The words that come to mind…wow…potential…overwhelming…scary…opportunity…LEARN…PRAY…LEARN…
I’m with Kevin, WOW…the world is getting bigger and smaller at the same time. It is possible for big ideas to go viral over night and spark revolutions. We are more connected then ever before but more isolated at the same time. The opportunities are incredible, I pray God gives us insights and ideas to capitalize on these trends…WOW
That was cool…amazing…and a little scary. Makes me ponder the untapped possibilities of ministry.
I think the Church can keep up with this unprecedented growth in tech and communication. We’re alive at the coolest time in history!
Great video. Just posted the same one on my blog on yesterday. Pray the church can keep up its pace.
So What does it all mean? Utter reliance on God. Burn the box of leadership and leverage of today and embrace rapid change and hire IT Visionaries/Innovation Pastors to help discern and chart the course of the future.

My God! Church: Exciting times ahead!!!
Wow! What an opportunity. Let’s not miss it.
wow. I thought my Atari 2600 was pretty cool back in the day. things… they are a’changin’!!!

Yeah, global and mobile are where it’s at! The world has become smaller, global is attainable and life is constantly moving. Good stuff!
Wowww
I am not at all opposed to technology….but what really stirred my heart as I watched this was the verse from 2Timothy. We have a people that are always seeking and increasing in knowledge, but not acknowledging the truth. Visions of the tower of Babel come to mind! We, the believers must use all of this for the Kingdom, and we must pray for those that seek all of this in vain.
2 Timothy 3:1-7 (New International Version)
Godlessness in the Last Days
1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.
Change=Constant=Jesus
That’s why I have always thought that Jesus is Revolutionary…and “cultural relevant” is not even relevant…Jesus is the Culture by definition alone, not trends…He has always been constantly “avant-garde”.
Awesome comment Ejvis!
Kirk, thanks for the reminder. I Hold these tensions too. I have been asking for input from my friends on my blog. Understanding the medium of the message is important. However, the message and the mission of the message must never be lost in the medium. There is great debate on the issue. (Marva Dawn-Reaching Out without Dumbing Down, Selling Out the Gospel–forgive, I can’t recall the author’s name.) Every attempt to reach people groups must be bathed in prayer. Utilizing internet for the Gospel without intense prayer is as foolish as standing to preach without deep study and intimate prayer.
Love these kinds of video’s as they capture the nature of our reality far too many people are simply ignorant of. I posted on this topic here:

You may find it interesting…
WOW - those stats are mind-blowing
This explains why “experts” are so often surprised…
Thanks… I have seen this before… but every time I see it, I can’t but help to think what do we need to be doing for the future?
I am going to be reposting this on my blog http://maljr.com

Great presentation, which reinforces what I saw at a “Youth and media culture” presentation a little while ago.
This information is great, but are we creating minds and education with too narrow of a focus?
Ken Robinson presented a talk which opened my eyes as to how this is messing up the next generation, through things like educational inflation.

The North East (PA) School District showed this to the Clergy Council last year during one of our annual coordinating meetings. It was impactful then and even more so after seeing it the second time. It just makes you wonder when ‘enough will be enough’ and we’ll have a sense of ‘constant’ again. It’s no wonder our children are turning back to the liturgy of the church, everything else is moving too fast even for them!

Another Reason Why Ministers Need to Immerse Themselves in Culture…
The world is changing so quickly…it’s almost unthinkable to attempt to consider the future. A huge number of children will solve problems and work in jobs that do not even exist today… This begs the question, how should we seek to pre…
Kirk, regarding your end days post… that pretty much describes humans throughout history.
