My Preparation for One Prayer
Amy and I are fasting sweets for 40 days in preparation for the series. (Sounds easy… Man, do I miss chocolate!)
The week before One Prayer starts, we will do a total media fast to spend more time praying.
During One Prayer, we will be devoting several days of total food fasts, drinking water only.
We are:
- Asking God to build bridges between churches in local communities.
- Praying by name for every senior pastor and church involved in One Prayer. (We have about 640 churches participating from 17 countries as of today.)
- Writing notes to pastors in our community to let them know that we love them and that we’re praying for them.
- Continuing to only speak well of other ministries.
- Sending offerings to churches other than LifeChurch.tv.
- Initiating strategic ministry friendships.
- Exposing our church to other great spiritual leaders.
- Teaching a pre-One Prayer message to prepare our church to think about THE Church… instead of “our” church.
- Encouraging pastors around the world to do the same and more.
Please tell me about anything you or your church is doing in preparation for the series!
For those of you preaching, what is your one prayer? Please tell us your church and where you live.

Wow, 640 churches, 17 countries awesome!
Craig, I am doing a 21-day Daniel Fast in preparation. My message will be Make us Thirsty.
Thanks, Kurt.
Joseph, Very cool! I know your message will be powerful!
We are committing the entire month of June to this… We are actually stretching the parameters and starting on June 1 with our live sermon and then continuing to the 29th with four of the video messages. This is going to be great.
Faith Christian from Shawnee, OK.
We are partnering with something in our community called “Shawnee Rescue Mission” for our community effort. I’ve already started talking to our church about the world offering. I can’t wait to hear where it’s going, and to see how much we (640 churches) raise.
My prayer is “Make us Relentless” (recorded it last week).
Thanks for this opportunity!
Todd, Very cool! I pray God blesses your church through this unifying experience!
Travis, Way to go! I know Shawnee will feel your efforts! We should be able to announce the offering destination(s) any day now. We are working with others to finalize the details. It is going to be very powerful! Our churches will be shocked to see what we can do together!
Wow… if I join you guys on this fast then 50% of my days in 2008 would have been in one fast or anything.
For the glory of God, count me in.
Craig…my one prayer is make us humble…I will be teaching from 2 Chronicles 7:14…
I really want my generation to get the humility factor of faith…that our “everything” is found in God alone…
I am a graduate and former athlete of Oklahoma University, and I was a part of Lifechurch.tv when I was there…
I think this is so incredible
We are so excited that in a small church here Pacifica California we can be part of this amazing initiative. For a while now, in conversation with some of the other pastors in the city, I have been asking and praying that God would begin to show us what the “being one He prays fro looks like on a day to day basis. May be we are beginning to catch a glimpse, thankyou for making this possible. Our message is “Make us different” and we shall be designating the first week as a week of prayer and fasting.
I am planning to speak on “Make Us Disciple Makers”. We are a small church (size wise)in a rural community. It is very easy for us to focus on just ourselves instead of those who need to grow in their relationship with God through Christ.
Our church is facing some big challenges (property, finances, vision)in the upcoming year and it would be real easy for us to be consumed by these issues. My biggest concern is that we would leave out the spiritual dimension as we tackle these issues.
My prayer is that we as individuals and a church will continue reaching out and making disciples.
I am planning to supplement the preaching with studies for our small groups and for individuals as well. On the last weekend we will do a community service project as a church somewhere in our community. We have not worked the details yet.
I have been in prayer for this series, and I am continually amazed at all that God is putting on the Life Church leadership’s hearts. Ideas that are God-inspired and willing hearts to follow His plan, whatever the cost.
Thank you so much for your faithfulness!
Know that you are covered in prayer and support.
We’ll be doing Make Us Generous — St. Paul’s Collegiate Church, Storrs CT (stpaulswired.org)
Craig, I appreciate your dedication and seeking of God for him to do great things through One Prayer.
It challenges me to pray more for the entire experience and opportunity.
I believe that one prayer is a very biblical vision! Praise God for what he will do!
