I use mine for checking e-mail most. I screen my calls, and determine if they can wait to be called back from a landline.

work email (by an order of magnitude)

As an Internet Developer \ Designer I’m a little torn on the use of gadgets. When the iPhone was released I wrote a little about the thoughts I have here: http://www.brandonrichards.com/journal/entry/apple_iphone_meets_idol/

How to balance becoming enslaved to a device, (you know that leash feeling you have when someone from work calls to talk business when you’re trying to give your kids a bath or when you’re asleep) and making the device a productive tool.

I was once lost, but now I’m found through GPS.
I see a number of skits for this. Imagine the Last Supper. And instead of everyone talking, sharing leaning against Jesus, everyone is SMS’ing the other one.

Is this really the right direction?

I just came back from Adobe MAX in Chicago and it was ‘assumed’ and has become a necessity to almost everyone to be ‘IN’ as Verizon has declared. After all, everyone wants to be included.

Ah too much of a response, sorry.

I only have a pay as you go mobile right now that I use occasionally. I often get dumbfounded looks when I tell people I don’t do mobile, I have a life and prefer to keep it. I will confess I did have a Verizon Wireless a year ago when I moved to Dallas, but it was mainly for GPS.

I use my mobile maybe 2-3 times a month, briefly.

I’m very office centered, so I use my landline more than anything…and I drive a motorcycle…which doesn’t lend itself to chatting on the road…so I’ll be a weirdo out of the group.
I talk on the cell phone from 2-3 hours a week.

normal phone functions, texting, and a lot of alarm/clock usage. From time to time I use the calculator. And when I am really bored, I’ll play games on it. I use about 1000 minutes a month, and almost never use a land line.

I have an iPhone, and like all others I use it for everything, phone calls, internet, email, sms, calendar, music, videos, podcast, google maps, and camera.

I probably use it most for email, web, and music.

I use about 600 minutes a month (i don’t really like talking on the phone)

I browse the web about an 30 minutes to an hour a day.

I probably use it about 90 minutes a day.

I primarily use my phone for calls and text messaging.
I’m probably on my phone 1-2 hours a day. OK maybe 3 :)
But lately it has been a bunch of text messaging.

Text - about 200 a month
Email - too embarrassed to admit my addictions…

My new favorite use for the phone is googling for directions and phone numbers (466453) - http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/mobile/sms/

For me, it has become my Swiss Army knife of sorts. Only a tool though.
