Interview: Dino Rizzo
A few weeks ago we had the privilege of hosting several pastors from across the US who lead amazing churches. I sat down briefly with some of them to have them share some thoughts with you.
Today, I want to introduce you to Dino Rizzo, the Lead Pastor of Healing Place Church based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is one of the most compassionate people I know and has led HPC to be a church that shares God’s Love by serving those around them. You’ll definitly want to check out his blog or visit Healing Place Church to get a better understanding of all that God is doing through their ministry.

Although I read Dino’s blog, hearing the humility behind his leadership is inspiring. Seems the Healing Place has really discovered how to live in the fullness of servant-hearted ministry. The most significant thing I got out of the interview was that Dino started without a “strategy” or business plan for growing a successful church. Loving God by serving others seems to be the starting point for seeing definition in ministry emerge. Love before strategy - wow, what a concept!
In many ways I know the two differ, but the concept sounds to me very similar to the Salvation Army. They have the idea that a persons basic needs must be met first. Otherwise, it is essentially like driving past a starving person and yelling “I’ll pray for you!”. Good for them.

Thanks Bobby. It was good to ‘read’ something technological for a change. I liked what Dino said about praying - that it must be followed by action. Reminds me of the widow from Luke 18: 3: “And there was a widow in that town who KEPT COMING TO HIM with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ She actually DID something.
Also it reminds me of 1 John 3: 18: “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and in truth.”
