Prayers for the Virginia Tech Tragedy

Heavenly Father,

Our heart breaks for all the victims and families involved in the tragedy. We pray that You will make Yourself known to all who are grieving. May your presence comfort those who mourn. We pray for the leaders of the school, the police, the doctors, the students, the wounded, the community, and the extended family members. God use the churches and believers to somehow minister to all the broken people. We pray that people would turn to you, oh God. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Please be praying. Add your prayer if you would like…

    Father
I pray for all those lost and confused that as followers we may reach out to them. Showing them that even in the face of pain, suffering and brokenness you make all things new. I pray that through this your awesome love will be made known and you will be lifted up. Amen.

    Lord Jesus,
Let our heart be moved with compassion for the families and friends of the students lost today. We pray that you would comfort those who are hurting right now with your peace that surpasses all understanding.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matt 5:4)

    Father,
In this moment of tragedy, we pray that you bring hope. In this time of loss, sorrow and questioning, we pray that you would bring peace and comfort. Father, send the Comforter to the community of Blacksburg, to the families of the victims, to the students, faculty, staff and administration of Virginia Tech. Strengthen the Church in that community and around the nation that will minister to those affected by this event. We pray that you would bring peace and comfort to all involved in the days ahead and that their hearts would turn even more so toward you. In Jesus name…Amen!

In some ways this reminds us of 9/11 again. Here’s a beautiful prayer I found:

    “Prayer for Virginia Tech”:

    Mercy of God deliver us.
    Love of Christ heal us.
    Spirit of God strengthen us.

Lord, have mercy on all those hurt by the horrific massacre in Virginia — the victims, the injured, the traumatized, the grieving, the rescuers, and the healers.

Prince of Peace, grant that through your holy Cross where you suffer with all humanity, we may rise up to new life with you, to be instruments of your Peace.

Through Christ our Lord, and the intercession of Fr. Mychal Judge, “the Saint of 9/11″. Amen.
