Easter in Second Life
Our beta test of our Second Life island is going very well.
We will be starting live worship experience in the island this Sunday at 8:00am, 9:30am and 11:00am (Second Life Time…aka PDT)
I have been completely amazed at the response to the island from within Second Life. I have personally interacted with hundreds of visitors from around the world on the island over the last few weeks…many who are not at all familiar with LifeChurch.tv and simply found it by searching from within Second Life. There have already been several stories in just the last few days from staff or volunteers that have been able to share Christ with people who are coming to the island for answers. You can just feel it…God is doing something.
We actually have had quite a bit of traffic without even launching our live experience yet. Second Life has their own unique traffic count that is not a count of people, but instead some special number that reflects the amount of avatars combined with the amount of time they spend on our island. Because of our traffic count…we appear at the top of search results for the terms “church”, “Christ”, “Jesus” and in the top 6 results for “video”, “fun”, “free stuff”, “clothes” oddly.
These are a few companies that have a presence in Second Life:
Dell
MTV
CNet
Reuters
BMG Music
On Tuesday, all of their areas had less traffic in Second Life than Experience Island…in fact, all of them combined had less traffic! That just seems crazy to me…but it’s true. God is doing something big…I’m looking forward to seeing it unfold.

I feel the same way, Bobby. My experiences with LC.tv in SL have been some of the most spirit-filled I have ever had in my life. I’ve worshiped, prayed and discussed Jesus with people from all around the world - many of whom I would never had the chance to meet in RL.
I was wondering how God was going to arrange having me work with LC.tv given that I’m based in Connecticut and there are no LC.tv churches here. Now I know.
God is good, brother. Very good!
Agape,

Steve,
Thanks for committing to serve. I’ll see you in SL.
Bobby
The SL campus is awesome. I’ve been on there 3-4 times a week the last few weeks, just hanging out and talking with people. Having a blast!
Good show guys.
I can’t wait to see what God will do during these experiences this Sunday. The Internet Campus launched last Easter, and now we have Second Life launching this Easter. I believe there is a trend. New ways to reach people using internet technologies coming every Easter.
Not a bad weekend to expect big things from God…
See you all there,
Brandon
Bobby,
You’re team has done an amazing job! Thank you for your hard work. I think this has tremendous potential!!!
Up until your first post about LC.tv in SL… I had never heard of SL. I went there and created my avatar. Since then I have been able to view LC.tv… and it excites me that I will have a new place to be able to witness in SL.
Long term… I see SL as a place where people that have never witness because of their fear of sharing Christ… go there and “get into the game” with those in SL. May be… just maybe that it will give them confidence to witness in real life.

3D Virtual Worlds such as Second Life are the future of online communication and are changing the way we share information. I am glad to see the new medium being utilized to spread a positive message into the metaverse. Very impressive, great job. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Be good!

Austin,
As I am sure you know…I agree completely.
Since you are local…
Be sure to shoot me an email…we can connect offline regarding ways we can work together.
Malcolm…I have already seen this happen. I’m glad you are catching the purpose.
Hi,
can you tell me, when you have usual worship service and other events?
Most interesting for me are events between 2 am and 2 pm SLT, for I’m from Europe
Kind regards, God bless you!

[...] There seems to be a growing movement by different ministries to begin doing evangelism in Second Life, seeing it as a way to interact with people who may have no interest in going to church in this world. One particular ministry I have been following is LifeChurch.tv, who have been early adopters and innovators in many different areas of technology. They held an Easter service in Second Life this past Sunday, but I have yet to hear of any feedback on how it went. The picture is a representation of their building within Second Life. [...]
We have worship experiences at 8, 9:30, 11am SLT on Sundays.
I hope you are able to come this weekend. I’ll look for you.

Hi,
I just read the post and saw your list of a few rl companies in second life. Just a couple minutes before reading your post, I ran across a great site for finding links to other real life brands and companies with locations in sl. I think its a good resource. http://slbusinesscommunicators.pbwiki.com
I wish you the best!

[...] I discovered that Lifechurch.tv (via their blog Swerve) had a Easter service this past holiday. Apparently they have been having good results too from their island on the online virtual world. I have visited Second Life before but never really stuck around very long, I am more of a World of Warcraft person. SL is a little boring to me. However, I think I will go and check out Lifechurch’s place. I have been completely amazed at the response to the island from within Second Life.
