Satan Hates Life
Our team has been working on a large billboard campaign (which is actually a first for us) for the last 8 weeks. It really doesn’t take that long, but we were surprised when we were turned down by multiple billboard companies who would not approve our copy or art. The funniest response was when we tried to put a billboard on the Las Vegas strip. We were told that it was in “poor taste”..which is hilarious to me when you think about all that is on the strip. Crazy!
After much manipulation and some copy compromise the SatanHatesLife.com campaign started this week in several cities where we have physical campuses. It’s really a pretty simple concept and hopefully it will be offbeat enough to grab people’s attention and connect them to who we are and ultimately to Christ. It’s too early to tell now, but we’ll soon see.
You can see the website that the campaign links to here. Here are a couple of example pics of the billboards:

Awesome. I’m glad you guys went for it.
Excellent! Great work.
WOW! What a concept. It fits in well with the current message series and is a take-off on the “God” series of billboards.
hahaha, genius! that’ll definitely turn some heads.
This was a great move! I love the billboards. They’re going to be different enough to make people want to know more. The website is cool too and I think will really hook people with interest.
I just flippin love you guys.
Satan…not so much:)
you guys are awesom.e
That has to be the funniest thing i’ve ever heard. I used to live in Vegas and that is just plan funny!
This is terrific!
Really great job. But Stillwater campus does not have an 8:30 experience. YET !!!
good catch richard…we’ll get it fixed.
One word describes this: Brilliant
Where do I purchase the t-shirt?

I love the billboards. Brilliant!
Just when I think Life Church can’t think of something more creative than you’ve done before, you blow me away. Love this approach. Truly an eyecatcher and will catch people’s attention and peak curiosity!!! Great job as usual.
That billboard idea is great. I am so blessed to be apart of a ministry that is trying with all their heart, soul, strength and creativity to reach the lost. I love that you have a web address for them to go to and check it out. They will and who knows what God will do for their hurting hearts. Keep it up. Our family will continue to pray for your leadership. I did not see anything that was in poor taste. Funny how the black pots are always finding fault. Thought provoking, yes.

This is brilliant - Keep up the good work - no matter how much opposition you may face. Question - when is Life Church coming to Denver?
AWESOME!!!
I remember this idea being bounced around at the Core Leader get-together for NW OKC campus, and I am thrilled you ran with it.
I’ve been a member of LifeChurch.tv for three years. I have never been so proud. My eyes are filling with tears as I type this reply. It’s fun to be a part of the cutting edge!!! Can I have one to put in my front yard?
Lame.

One thing I was expecting during the Satan videos was for Satan to take a sip of coffee, look at you & say, “This coffee could be hotter” then stick his finger in it, swirl it around, taste it again & say “there, that’s better.”
the idea is so good i almost want to commit the sins of covet and stealing and use it for my church! nah… but let me know how I can get a license from you to do so!
tim
Tim,
You are welcome to use the concept.
Thank God that Life Church is out there to reach EVERYONE!!!
I’m blessed to be a part of a church that is “all things to all people!”
Satan hates LifeChurch.tv… that is so awesome it makes my chest hurt. I almost kicked my friend in the face because he said it was stupid.
[...] I wanted to share a piece of feedback that we received on our SatanHatesLife.com campaign that we started a couple of weeks ago. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you can read my earlier post. Here is the feedback (name removed): “I am a youth director in the local area and I think that your billboard advertisements are not a christian message. They trick some people to coming to your web site. They dont present truth and that is the cornerstone of the christian faith. trickery is a tool of the devil and christians should be held to a higher standard. You may have ment well but the advertisements might actually put up walls between people and God rather than break them down.” [...]
I love it all. Where can I get the T-shirts?
I think it was a brillant move. You got somebodys attention with it.
[...] Since Lifechurch.tv posted the billboards there has been a lot of talk on the appropriateness, so this is not an attempt to revisit that part of the discussion. If you looking for that angle, visit the Swerve blog. [...]
first off this is clever but I doubt if this will really improve your turn out. you can’t just catch someones eye and make them a convert. good try but all in all I think you could have spent the money on something better
Personally I think Lifechurch.tv has hit a new low in crass and offensive marketing of their church, to say nothing of the arrogance of thinking that your church really is a threat to the devil.
I know how much billboards cost. The cost of even one those innane billboards would have a lot of hungry families or provided help in countless ways to many folks.
I guess I sound a bit upset about your campaign, but I’m expressing the sentiments of quite a few other folks who’ve seen your billboards. I am a follower of Jesus and believe strongly in his teachings of non-violence, equality and concern for the poor. I think it is far better to be about what Jesus was actually about than to promote yourselves like this.
Sure, the cost of a billboard would feed hungry folks. But the addition of several thousand givers to the LifeChurch family as a result of a bilboard campaign will give LifeChurch opportunity to feed even more hungry folks. Before becoming critical, one has to ask themselves what they, personally, are doing to feed the hungry and help needy people. Then, with that question satisfied, one has to look at the bigger picture and realize that ministry includes but is not limited too feeding the hungry. The real question is not whether LC should do billboards. The real question is, “What are the LC ministries to the poor, hungry and otherwise needy?” That’s a legit question!
I passed one of these boards and thought that Lifechurch.tv was being rebelled. lol
You guys rock! Keep up the good work. Gods gonna have some rewards wiating for you!!!!
